We are not even safe in a nail salon

Hello everyone and happy Super Bowl Sunday.

Today I thought I would spend a relaxing day getting my nails done at my nail salon while everyone else was watching the Superbowl. So I'm sitting there getting my nails done like so many times before having a pleasant, casual conversation with my nail technician. The shop was very busy with women finally having the opportunity to leave their men at home to watch the game so that they could take care of themselves for a change. The hum of the pedicure spa chairs and the light chatter of clients was suddenly interrupted by the loud voice of a suspicious looking guy and his trashy woman who wanted her nails done. The manager of the nail spa asked the woman to sit at her station while the gangsta man sat down and was spinning in his chair like a psycho dradel, scanning the joint as he went 'round and 'round. The freak was making me dizzy. The character then stood up, went over to the front desk area where the store manager's iPhone was out in plain view. A couple of us were all paying attention to this guy and shockingly, he picked up the phone and put it in his pocket. The manager, who is a petite lady, went over to him with no fear and demanded her phone back. The gangsta said "I ain't got yer phone, this is my phone in my pocket." The manager stuck her hand in the guy's pocket and took back the phone, told him and the woman to leave immediately or she'll call the police. The guy and the ho took off quickly without further incident. The point is, what if this creep had a gun and was really desperate? The manager is a gutsy lady but God forbid if this guy was really dangerous and was packing a pistol, it could have been disasterous. However, I did have have my stun gun in my bag next to me, and I was slowly moving my hand toward it just in case. I knew that at least I could create a diversion and stop this freak in his tracks giving us time to call the cops. This is proof that the world is getting crazier and crazier and with the economy going down the tubes, people losing their jobs and their homes, people are getting desperate. This incident made me realize that there is no safe haven, and I plan on giving out free pepper sprays to the nail technicians at the shop so at least they have a fighting chance if something like this happens again.

It was a scary experience, but sadly, it is today's reality. Ladies! Please protect yourselves. It is not safe anywhere.

Peace out.

Suzee
